Ross Hollow EPK
About
Ross Hollow is a folk, americana artist out of Western North Carolina. Ross Hollow finds inspiration in fog-draped mornings, rhododendron thickets, the quiet of mountain trails, and the wild animals all around. Recent work leans into a more organic, acoustic sound, rich with finger picked guitar, warm harmonies, and collaborations with guest vocalists and string players that evoke the natural beauty in Southern Appalachia
Ross Hollow is the main music outlet of Stuart Ross Johnson. Though Stuart is the primary songwriter many musicians have contributed to the sound. Currently Ross Hollow plays out as either a solo act or 4 piece band.
Influenced by the lyrical depth and authenticity of artists like Paul Simon, Cat Stevens, and Bob Dylan, and inspired by modern voices such as Noah Kahan, Hozier, Fionn Regan, and Mumford & Sons, Ross Hollow blends the timeless with the contemporary.

Recent press write up for our 4th studio album In The Dimming
“In The Dimming is Ross Hollow’s 4th full-length & sees the well-traveled folk artist return to stripped-back arrangements, exchanging full ensemble blues, rock, and soul for more minimal guitar and the occasional drum, cello, or fiddle. As a long-time WNC resident and natural storyteller, Ross Hollow has collected inspiration throughout the Appalachians that he has channeled into these 11 tracks.
Themes of resilience, the fragility of human memory, and grief underpin the album, and are on full display in opening track “Patience Park.” Patience Park, one of Ross Hollow’s childhood haunts, was one of many locations in Western North Carolina devastated by Hurricane Helene. “Patience Park” reflects on the good times Ross Hollow spent there through a somber lens, blending ethereal vocal interludes with Ashlee Booth’s (shout-out my wife!) cello in attempt to cement the fleeting nature of those memories.”
